Meet the Newest Member of The Church Attorney® Team

Hello Reader ,

We are excited to welcome Kayla L. Foley, J.D., to The Church Attorney® team as a paralegal!

Kayla officially began her new role on August 17, 2026, but she has worked with The Church Attorney® for several years.

Meet Kayla

Kayla brings five years of legal support experience, with a particular focus on church law, legal research, and document review.

She began supporting The Church Attorney® team in 2023 while attending law school. Behind the scenes, Kayla has helped draft Church Law case summaries and assisted with tax-exempt applications during her summers in law school.

Her previous experience also includes work as a contractor for Church Law & Tax on the 2023 update of the Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Laws for Churches and service as a paralegal in the legal office of an international denomination.

In May 2026, Kayla earned her Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Memorial University School of Law.

Her Role on The Church Attorney® team:

As a paralegal, Kayla works closely with our legal team to support churches and faith-based organizations, including tax-exempt applications, legal research, document review, and client correspondence.

And because church law is about much more than documents, Kayla brings something particularly valuable to the team: an understanding of the unique intersection between ministry and law.

A Little More About Kayla

Outside the office, Kayla enjoys discussing theology with her husband, Matthew, and spending time in the arts—whether she's crafting, painting, or making music. She grew up in the church with parents in the ministry, and continues to serve the church.

Please join us in welcoming Kayla to the team!

Because the congregation has historically been asked for approval? Or because the church’s governing documents actually give a particular person or group the authority to make...
