Teamwork matters on the field and in church leadership

Hello Reader ,

Our family has been watching the World Cup, and we are loving it.

There is something so fun about gathering around the TV together, cheering, reacting, and watching these teams compete at such a high level.

But as I have been watching, one thing keeps standing out to me:

No one wins alone.

It does not matter how gifted one player is. A strong team needs communication, trust, preparation, strategy, and people who understand their roles.

That is true on the field.

And it is true in church leadership.

Pastors carry so much responsibility, but legal readiness, governance, HR, finances, property decisions, technology, risk management, and ministry operations should not rest on one person’s shoulders.

The strongest churches have leaders who are learning, asking better questions, and preparing with wisdom.

That is one of the reasons I am so excited about the 19th Annual Church Law & Leadership Summit, happening virtually:

Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18
11:00 AM–2:00 PM ET each day

For the first time ever, the summit is expanding to two days.

This year’s theme is:

The Time Is Now: Building Resilient Churches for a Shifting World

Whether you attend individually or bring several members of your leadership team, this summit is designed to give church leaders practical insight, trusted guidance, and clear next steps.

For individual attendees, this is a valuable opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of ministry and focus on the legal, operational, and leadership issues that deserve attention.

For churches that want multiple leaders involved, the Team Pass is a strong option. It allows up to five members of your church leadership team to attend together and includes the summit guide and replay access, so your team can revisit the sessions and continue the conversation after the event.

It is also helpful because this year’s summit includes three different breakout sessions happening live:

  • Rest & Renewal in Leadership
  • Building Healthy Ministry Teams: HR Essentials for Churches
  • The Connected Church: Leveraging Technology for Growth and Engagement

With the Team Pass, your church can have different leaders attend different breakout sessions live, then come back together to share insights, compare notes, and identify next steps for your ministry.

The summit is a great fit for:

  • Pastors
  • Executive pastors
  • Church administrators
  • Board members and elders
  • HR or finance leaders
  • Operations or ministry leaders

Across two days, we will cover practical topics including leadership health, HR essentials, technology for growth and engagement, leading through change, youth ministry, church property, church finances, church HR, governance, legal readiness, and practical next steps.

My encouragement is simple:

Do not let these important conversations wait.

Whether you attend on your own or bring your team, make space to prepare for the issues your church is facing now.

Early bird pricing is available now.

The time is now to build resilient churches for a shifting world.

Blessings!

Hello Reader , For 18 years, the Church Law & Leadership Summit has helped church leaders prepare for the legal, operational, and leadership challenges facing ministry. This year, for the first time ever, we are expanding to two days. Why? Because church leaders asked for more. Last year, one of the biggest things we heard was that attendees wanted more time — more networking, more conversation, more practical support, and more space to process the issues facing churches today. We wanted to...
