Tomorrow: Pastor, Board, or Congregation?

Hello Reader ,

Tomorrow at noon, we’re talking about one of the most important questions in church governance:

Who’s in charge?

I’ve seen how difficult leadership decisions can become when the pastor, board, congregation, or other leaders have different understandings of who has authority to do what.

Often, everyone involved is trying to serve the church well.

The problem is simply that the lines of authority aren’t clear.

That’s why I wanted to devote an entire Legal Briefing to this conversation.

Tomorrow, we’ll talk about:

• Church governance

• Leadership authority

• The roles of pastors, boards, and congregations

• The importance of governing documents

• Questions leadership teams should ask about decision-making authority
