Easter Is Coming—Is Your Church Prepared Behind the Scenes?

Hello Reader ,

Easter (also known as Resurrection Sunday) is one of the most meaningful and significant times in the annual church calendar.

For many, it’s a time of celebration, increased attendance, and renewed connection with the community. Some churches will see their highest engagement all year on Easter.

But behind every Easter service is something less visible—the operational and governance structure that supports it.

Over the past week, we’ve been talking about board independence and the importance of healthy oversight. And Easter provides a timely reminder of why this matters.

Because when attendance increases, and activity ramps up, so do the responsibilities:
• Increased giving and financial handling
• More volunteers and staffing coordination
• Expanded services and facility usage
• Greater visibility to visitors and the broader community

Moments like this don’t just highlight ministry impact—they also reveal how well a church is structured behind the scenes.

If financial processes aren’t clear…
If leadership roles aren’t well defined…
If oversight isn’t truly independent…

Those gaps can become more noticeable during high-impact seasons like Easter.

I will be talking more about this when I go live today at 12 PM EDT, join the conversation on Facebook, LinkedIn and on our YouTube Channel.

This is why governance isn’t just a “back-office” concern—it’s part of how we faithfully steward what has been entrusted to the church.

As you prepare for this weekend, it may be worth asking:
Is our structure supporting our mission as well as it could be?

We will be continuing this important discussion in our upcoming April webinar: “Is Your Board Really Independent? Governance Red Flags Churches Miss.”

We’ll walk through the key issues that often go unnoticed—and how to strengthen your church’s foundation moving forward.

And as a next step, we’ll also be opening enrollment for our Faithful Foundations Membership All Access Cohort during the webinar.

This is designed to help churches like yours move beyond uncertainty and build clear, compliant, and sustainable governance structures—with ongoing guidance along the way.

As you head into Easter weekend, we hope that your focus remains on ministry and impact—supported by a strong foundation that allows your church to operate with clarity, integrity, and confidence.

Blessings!

Hello Reader , When it comes to church finances, most leaders would say they have oversight in place. There’s a board. There are trusted individuals involved. There’s a sense that someone is paying attention. But one of the most common issues we see is this: Churches often assume financial oversight is happening when, in reality, the structure makes true oversight difficult. This also raises the question: Should the Pastor be on the Board?? In many cases: • Board members may not be truly...
